If your itinerary only includes flights operated by the Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum), you can select your seat and get your boarding card from the time of purchase, provided they are domestic routes or routes in the Schengen Area. If your fare doesn't include seat selection, you can still select it in advance for less than you would pay at the airport and get your boarding card. Alternatively, you can wait until 24 hours before the departure of your flight and then check in.
Remember, check-in for flights to/from destinations outside the Schengen Area is only available from 24 hours before departure.
You cannot check in online and must therefore check in at the airport in the following cases:
The departure airport does not permit online check-in.
You are flying with a different operator. We'll redirect you to their website if the operator is American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Latam or Vueling. In this case, you won't be able to add extra bags through Iberia.com.
In the case of a special service: if you are travelling with a pet, you have booked a service for unaccompanied minors, or you were unable to prove your resident status, you can check in online but you will have to collect your boarding card at the airport. In all other cases, you can only check in at the airport.
You are travelling to/from USA, UK or China: the authorities in these countries may not allow you to check in online.
For bookings with an Air Shuttle fare for more than one person.
If you see the message 'Your booking does not permit online check-in' when you are trying to check in and none of the above exceptions applies, try again in the 24 hours before the departure of the flight. If you still can't get your boarding card, you will have to check in at the airport.
